Florida Bleeding Disorders Treatment Centers (FBDTC's)

Bleeding Disorders Treatment Centers (BDTC’s) provide specialized health care for people who have bleeding disorders. As of 2025, there are approximately 145 hemophilia treatment centers in the United States that offer comprehensive medical care to people with coagulation disorders.

Bleeding disorders can be complex. If managed properly, patients can strive to live enjoyable and quality lives. Conditions are unique in the community and levels of care, limitations and severity of symptoms can vary for everyone. Some patients are more prone to develop chronic health problems, such as prolonged joint pain. Hemophilia Treatment Centers consider all aspects of patient care including medical, physical, emotional, psychological, educational, financial, and vocational, including:

  • Lab medical technologists and pathologists
  • Hematologists – physicians specializing in blood disorders
  • Orthopedists – physicians specializing in bones, joints, and muscles
  • Physical therapists – Specialists in activity, exercise, and rehabilitation
  • Nurses – medical specialists in bleeding disorders
  • Social workers – Specialists assisting with issues of daily living, such as adjusting to life or locating resources
  • Other specialists available by referral (for example, dentist, nutritionist, genetic counselor)
